Hello my fellow food embracers,
We’ll be at clubs day tomorrow with refreshing drinks from Aroha. Membership is a gold coin or $5 with a drink, or you can purchase drinks from us for $3 if you’re a past member (just mention it to us). Randoms can also buy the drinks for $4.
The gold coins from this year and our fundraising from last year are going towards a cheese night as our first event of the year. Basically, we’ll supply some cheese, and everyone can bring condiments (crackers, quince paste, relishes, honeycomb, apples…all that fancy cheese stuff). Am looking into places we could have this…veering towards Med Foods but keen for suggestions.
In conjunction with the UCSA, we’re looking to run a kitchenware fundraiser in which members of the public (or whoever) drop off kitchenware that students can then come in and collect for a gold coin donation.
The Potluck Club will be getting the funds raised for future events, which you’ll have a say in if you lend a hand.
We need awesome people to:
- Deliver fliers
- Man the drop off day – likely to be Sat 3rd March NOTE: this is a weekend day
- (Possibly move) and rearrange the goods into an accessible arrangement for students to peruse
- Man the event day – likely to be Wed 7th March
- Take leftovers to the Eco store – or store somewhere on your own accord until the next/for your use
You’ll be able to put your involvement in a new initiative on your CV, and have a massive say in running the club this year.

Close to home is a free tour for Christchurch foodlovers to sample & support some of our local food heroes while meeting some other Christchurch foodies. You can meet us at whatever time suits you on the day, so you can come to one part only if you want. To make your life easy, bring cash with you on the day for breakfast/lunch or impulse buys! You do not need to be a member of The Potluck Club to join us, so invite any of your friends who are interested, or do your own tour with your friends.

Meet on the steps at the entrance to Riccarton House, or ring Zo on 021 857 559 if you arrive after 10 and we’ll let you know where we’ve wandered off to.
Meet at the bridge to the Botanical Gardens from Armagh St Car Park, or ring Zo on 021 857 559 if you arrive after 12:30pm and we’ll let you know where we’ve wandered off to.
If people are keen I can show you where to forage for onionweed (it’s a little like garlic chives) nearby

If you’d like to bikepool or carpool, please leave a comment with your rough location and whether you are offering a lift or require one.
If it’s raining heavily on the day I will post an update here as to whether the tour will go ahead – we will probably just postpone to the next Saturday if it is raining. UPDATE: Apparently there’s patchy spitting in Christchurch so far so we’ll go ahead for now and if it gets too bad just text me/ring me to see if we’re still wandering. We may also do this next week AS WELL if the weather’s a little better so stay tuned

Hi everyone!
There will be an afternoon tea on this Saturday, 1pm at the College of Education.
This afternoon teat is a part of SANCon, a convention of the various geek groups around Christchurch. There will be board gaming, sci-fi, anime, steampunk etc.
The afternoon tea will be held outside (pray for good weather, though the forecast is good), there will be market stalls to check out, and fencing and medieval sword fighting to watch, while we sip tea and eat scones/cookies.
Bonus points for dressing up fancy!
Tea and real coffee will be provided.
The outdoor events are free, if you want to go check out the indoor events, they cost $15 for the day, or $25 for the weekend ($20 if you preregister on the website).

What does “eco-friendly food” mean to you? Bring a plate with something that reflects your personal ideas about sustainable food. Feasting starts at 6pm. We’ll also be watching River Dog, a half hour doco based in NZ, from 7pm, if you’d like to stay. Discussion to follow. If you’re interested in meeting and scheming with people who care about amazing food and its wider social/environmental/economic consequences, this is the Eco Week event for you!
Feel free to tell us what your bringing by commenting below, or just show up.
